Qunu – useful or useless?

Filed under: Interesting — Rohit Aggarwal @ 1:18 pm

I tried Qunu today. I searched for experts in “MS Sql” and found the following search results.

Fujitsu

Marcel van der Boom

Alfacero
system engineer

jayvdb

I tried contacting each one of them twice but none of them established a connection. The time was 9.11 am Monday.

It will be better if they can tell the reason for failure to establish connection.

I hope this is not the trend in every search result or Qunu is in trouble.

  1. hi rohit,

we are getting a few reports of this type and are working to find why inactive experts are being kept on the result pages. it’s a combination of borked Jabber clients that don’t correctly report “away” status and other network issues i don’t understand fully (i’m not the tech guy).

we’re attempting workarounds involving regular probes of the experts’ JID to determine when presence is “stale” and if that doesn’t work we’ll try reversing the polarity of our deflector dish.

    cheers — murray.
